PC Windows XP Users

Many users of the English versions of Windows XP play imported Japanese PC games by setting up Windows XP to display Japanese text.

  1. Go into the Windows XP's Control Panel.
  2. Open the [Regional and Language Options].
  3. Click on the [Advanced] tab.
  4. Select [Japanese] from the pull-down menu at the [Language for non-Unicode Programs] section.
  5. Japanese will display for all non-Unicode programs then (Windows restart required).
Below is additional information on setting up. Some games are required to do this.
  1. Open the [Regional and Language Options].
  2. Click on the [Regional Options] tab.
  3. Select [Japanese] from the pull-down menu at the [Standards and Formats] section.
Some Japanese PC games may also have a region checker when they install, though this can be bypassed by downloading and using Microsoft's AppLocale program. Information on where to download it for Windows XP and instructions on how to use it can be found here:

Both Sony PlayStation and Sony PlayStation 2 are designed to be able to play games only from their manufactured region. For your informayion, both the Japanese versions of Sony PlayStation (PSOne) and Sony PlayStation 2 can be purchased directly from Himeya right here. One of the most common ways to play imported games on a foreign console system is to have a mod-chip installed. There are many web sites on the internet that go into more details on how to obtain/use a mod-chip for either your Sony PlayStation or Sony PlayStation 2. Please note that Himeya is not able to directly give out information on mod-chips because the installation/use of a mod-chip in a console will void the manufacturer's warranty on the console. Take great care and time before investing in the mod-chip method, although it's a proven method to play imported games. However, there are a few alternative solutions to get imported games to run on Sony PlayStation or Sony PlayStation 2. For Sony PlayStation, simple use of the Gameshark device can allow imported games to be played. For Sony PlayStation 2, the HD-Loader Kit has been used to play imported games. But same as the case with the mod-chip, Himeya recommends you to search for information on the internet before investing time/effort into any of these methods, as some can be a little tricky.
